FAQ

How much do you charge for representation?

This is totally dependent on the severity and complexity of the case. We will be able to give an estimate to the client at the first free consultation.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes, the first consultation up to 20 minutes is free.

How do I know I am receiving the best representation?

Liberty Law knows how stressful it is to look for a lawyer, and how difficult it is to know how well you will be represented. We  know that the measure of a successful outcome varies from case to case, and our first priority is to reach the most successful outcome possible for each of our clients.

A key indicator in determining whether or not you are receiving the best representation possible is how well you are kept informed of the facts and law relating to your case throughout your legal journey.

Our clients receive a full copy of their file as soon as the lawyer does, and we will go over the entire file with the client, identifying possible strengths and weaknesses, and informing them on the pitfalls and merits of their case, so they can make an informed decision in instructing counsel.

How much of my trial process will you manage?

In most cases, the lawyer dealing with your case will have the right expertise and experience to deal with the matter on their own, however for more complex and serious charges, the lawyers at Liberty Law are able to draw upon the various strengths and experience within the Chambers, and it is usual to have two lawyers dealing with and managing the file. One of the lawyers will be a senior lawyer who will take ultimate responsibility for the case.

If I get legal aid, do I have to pay it back?

If your financial situation improves then yes, you will be required to pay back what is owed for financial aid. Also if you own a home and have been in receipt of legal aid for legal representation, then a charge will be placed over your property by the Ministry of Justice.

Can I choose a lawyer of my choice if I can’t afford a lawyer and apply for legal aid?

If you can’t afford a lawyer, then you can only choose a lawyer of your choice if you are up for a very serious charge with a maximum prison sentence of 14 years and above. Any other criminal charge which attracts a lesser prison sentence will not enable you to have a lawyer of your choice, but rather a lawyer whom the state provides. Liberty Law offers flexible payment options should you wish to use our services in lieu of legal aid.
