Sexual Offences

Sexual offences are considered very serious offences and can attract very long prison sentences. At Liberty Law we recognise that such offences require a sensitive, non-judgmental approach and courageous advocacy.

We are able to confidently deal with a range of sexual offences and penalties including;

  • Sexual violation (essentially rape): up to 20 years of imprisonment.
  • Sexual conduct with consent induced by certain threats: up to 14 years of imprisonment.
  • Sexual conduct with a child under 12 years: up to 14 years of imprisonment.
  • Attempted sexual violation and assault with intent to commit sexual violation: up to 10 years of imprisonment.
  • Sexual conduct with a young person under 16 years: up to 10 years of imprisonment.
  • Indecent assault: up to seven years of imprisonment.

DNA is often a very important factor in sexual offence cases, so we engage independent expert opinion in the defence of our clients. We also ensure that important applications such as name and media suppression orders are made on behalf of our clients.
